Half Moon Theatre has commissioned a brand new children’s opera based on the Grimm Brother’s fairy tale, The Fisherman and His Wife. Perfect for elementary school children, this musical reading tells the story of a boy who captures a magical fish with the power to grant any wish. But what happens to the boy when his parents get carried away with wishing for their every materialistic desire? Will the boy’s family realize in time what is truly important in this world?
This project is made possible (in part) through a grant from the Dutchess County Arts Council, administrator of public funds through NYSCA’s Decentralization Program.

We will be collecting canned and non-perishable good for local families in need at our Magic Fish performances. Please bring your donations to the theatre. Thank you to Hudson River Housing for helping us coordinate this effort.
