About

Half Moon Theatre Company

Our Mission
Half Moon Theatre, an ensemble of Hudson Valley theatre professionals, strives to produce work that ignites imaginations, provokes thought, and entertains.  We believe in the power of the spoken word.  Through performances, youth education and outreach, Half Moon Theatre provides a central gathering place for the exchange of ideas amongst our diverse community.

About Half Moon Theatre
Half Moon Theatre was founded in 2006 by a collective of professional theatre artists from L.A., N.Y. and San Francisco. Founding artistic director Margo Whitcomb believed there was an opportunity for the company to fill a niche in the Hudson Valley of providing year-round professional theatre which would complement the already stellar summer that existed in the region.

Half Moon Theatre’s goal of providing work to AEA actors living in the area, local playwrights, professional lighting, costume and set designers is fully realized.  Your support of Half Moon Theatre creates jobs locally.  Through our two mainstage productions, New Play Development unit and outreach performances we achieve our goals.

Half Moon Theatre has made itself a presence in the community performing at other 501(c)3 benefits, making theatre accessible through its “pay what you will” previews, and providing a forum for the exchange of ideas with offering post performance talk-backs with the audience.  Under the current leadership of artistic director Geoff Tarson, performances have been as broadly based as children’s operas, world premiere dramas by emerging American playwrights and surprising farces with a decidedly European influence.  Half Moon Theatre has brought plays to the Hudson Valley before they are seen in New York City!
